Autism Spectrum Disorder

Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may see and experience the world in different ways than individuals who are not on the spectrum. Some amazing characteristics that are common among individuals with ASD are being able to learn and memorize information quickly, detail orientation, and finding wonderment in components of life or the world that are often overlooked by individuals who are not on the spectrum. Along with the exceptional brightness, intelligence, and curiosity among individuals with ASD, there can be specific challenges encountered within this neuro-diverse community. Some of these challenges may be difficulties with communication, emotional regulation and social engagement.

Through a behavioral approach, I support individuals with ASD in setting and achieving attainable goals. Such goals that I have seen clients accomplish are lessening depression and anxiety, being able to return to school, improving grades, bettering communication, and strengthening interpersonal relationships. I provide psychoeducation to assist loved ones in better understanding how to communicate and interact with individuals on the autism spectrum in a way that can improve connectivity and diminish conflict.
